De Novo Syndrome (Condition)
Parents carrying the Twitch virus but not actively infected can pass on a condition known as de novo syndrome to their children. De novo results in accelerated DNA replication but without restoring the lost gene activity typical of twitch infection. De novo onset is usually at puberty, thus life expectancy is typically from late teens to mid-twenties. Often times, the health of the individual can be normal up until months before death, some even reporting no symptoms moments before critical organ failure.
